How to choose the right floor for your family home

The floors in your house take the blunt of your families’ activities, from everything from muddy paws to fizzy pop stains, you name it your floor has seen it. Therefore, its key to evaluate what floor bests fit your family wants and needs.

There are endless factors to take into consideration before choosing your new flooring, practicality price, style and installation are among a few. That’s why I have teamed up with Amtico to put together a round up guide of flooring choices, perfect for each room of your house.

Living Room

This is the place where you go to unwind and watch your favourite programs, your living room represents your personal style the most.  That’s why it’s important to choose a floor that suits your style. Mix and match designs to make the room a true reflection of your personality. For the more traditional feel why not opt or neutral carpet that compliments your choice of furniture or be a little more creative with partnered tiles or textured vinyl flooring.

Dining/Kitchen

The heart of most homes, the kitchen is where the whole family come together to enjoy a meal or snack. Considering this is the most communal area of the home it deserves to be treated with extra consideration and love. Carpets and wood probably wouldn’t be the best option for this room, due to the number of messy spills and general wear and tare bound to take place. You should consider something low maintenance, yet aesthetically pleasing such as porcelain tiles.

Bathroom

It’s an unspoken rule that carpet has no place in the bathroom. With all the liquid and moisturise in the mix, it makes sense to opt for a more hardwood flooring option, as this is easy to clean and dry then the excessive material that comes with carpet. If wood isn’t your thing, then you can always opt for tile and woof effect vinyl flooring.

Main Bedroom

If you have a heavy hardwood flooring home, why not make your main bedroom extra cosy with a plush, carpet. However, if you are a bit wary of the substantiality and the long jeopardy of a carpet, you can always stick to wood or laminated flooring and just add a textured or pattern rug to break the room up a little.

Childs Bedroom

If you have little ones, choose a bright colourful flooring to transform your child’s bedroom into their favourite place in the house. Not only will the carpet make the room more fun, but it will add warmth and comfort for your little ones in the colder months. Once again vinyl flooring is a popular choice among parents because its easy to clean and maintain, making it an ideal choice for your little ones playroom.
